The Five Freedoms of Animals represent internationally accepted standards of care that guarantee the right of every living creature to humane treatment, and focus on meeting the mental and physical needs of the animal:

Freedom from hunger and thirst: by obtaining fresh water and the appropriate diet to maintain the good health of the animal, for example puppies, adult dogs, pregnant cats and large cats need different types of food and must be provided in different schedules.

Freedom from discomfort: by providing a suitable environment including shelter, which means that soft bedding and an area of ​​suitable temperature with access to natural light must be provided, but if the animal is outside, it must be protected from several things.

freedom from pain, injury, or disease: by prevention or prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment, including animal vaccination, physical health monitoring, treatment of any injuries, and provision of appropriate medications.

Freedom of expression of natural behavior: by providing adequate space, appropriate facilities and companionship for the animal, the animals must be able to interact with each other as well as provide pleasure such as running, jumping and playing.

Freedom from fear and distress: by securing conditions and treatment that spare the animal from psychological suffering, as the animal’s mental health is no less important than its physical health, but psychological stress can quickly turn into a physical disease.
